Recruiters, ever wonder how hiring differs between product-based and service-based companies? Let me share my experience.
In product-based companies, it’s not a rush. You get time to dig into the products and understand how business functions connect. Either you explore this on your own or schedule intake sessions with your hiring managers before you really start working on any requisition. This helps you understand the technical skills needed for each role. This makes you confident in asking questions and building trust with your candidates.
Now, service-based companies? It’s a whole different ballgame—a numbers game. The focus is speed, filling multiple roles for various clients fast. While there’s less time to dive deep, you sharpen skills like managing diverse needs, understanding clients, and handling high-volume hiring.
So, product-based is all about depth, while service-based is about speed and adaptability.
Which one do you prefer to hire for? And why?
