Are you already in the IT industry or thinking about joining it, and wondering what product-based and service-based companies are all about? Let me break it down for you!

A product-based company is a one that develops and sells its own products or software. Think of any startups that have started creating its own products or big giants like Google. When you work with such companies, your focus is on building or improving a specific product.

Doing so, helps you develop strong technical skills, you are pushed to be innovative to make your product better compared to your competitors. That’s when you outshine and thus, become an expert in your area.

On the other hand, a service-based company provides IT services or solutions to other businesses. These could be small consulting firms or a well-known name like TCS or Accenture.

Here, you get a chance to work on various projects for different clients, giving you exposure to diverse industries. However, the work may not always be as technically intense compared to product companies.

Now tell me in the comments—where do you see yourself working?

Happy job searching!
