#021  Recruiters' Proven Strategy: Online Assessments for Hiring Success | Jobseekers, Take Note!

As a recruiter, you play an important role in achieving hiring success, and I've got an essential tool to share—online assessments

Whether you work for an agency or a company, in this article, I'll explain why using online assessments is a game-changer.

Stay tuned until the end for a crucial tip and my success story.

 Let's get started.

Conducting an online assessment has three main reasons.

First, online assessments provide a standardized way to evaluate candidates, ensuring that each candidate undergoes the same testing conditions. This helps in fair and consistent candidate evaluation.

Second, online assessments enhance the quality of candidates you submit to clients or hiring managers, saving both you and hiring managers time by avoiding the review of irrelevant resumes. Plus, it boosts your resume submission to tech screen ratio, enhancing your overall recruitment process.

Third, it reduces biases rooted in education and work experiences. Not only does it provide a fair chance to all applicants, but it also elevates diversity in your sourcing process.

Now, the time has come to share the crucial tip that I mentioned initially.

If you want to get the most out of online assessments, don’t forget to consult with your clients or hiring managers about tweaking online assessments to specific job roles. This makes sure that candidates are tested on skills directly relevant to the position; as a result, this will significantly boost your hiring success rate.

Let me share my recent experience. I was sourcing for a Snowflake developer for one of our top clients. Since it's a niche role, my colleague and I decided to submit a candidate who had passed both our initial phone screen and the coding assessment.

This candidate successfully cleared the test which was relevant to the position with no red flags and ranked among the top 5% of the engineers we assessed in the last quarter. This boosted our confidence when submitting his profile to the client, and, as a result, the same candidate led to a successful hire.

I hope this gives you some thought on why you should consider having online assessments as one of your initial hiring stages.

Happy Recruiting!
